Deb is a calm, compassionate leader with a track record of building teams that deliver results at the highest level.
She launched Violet Consulting in 2021 after working in progressively senior roles within the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Opportunities New Brunswick, Government of New Brunswick and NB Power.
With an education and career grounding in journalism and newsrooms, Deb is a skilled writer and collaborator who listens deeply to clients to understand truths, motivations and context before proposing solutions.

Deb is also a strategic communications and engagement specialist, delivering projects that connect using creativity, purpose and a strong sense of story.

She has supported CEO’s, premiers, ministers and senior executive leaders through rough transitions, new beginnings and emergencies with calm, credible advice.

As a journalist, she has told thousands of stories of Atlantic Canadians from the personal to the political, through elections, plane crashes, natural disasters, conflicts over natural resources, community heartbreaks and celebrations. Most recently, she helped lead CBC New Brunswick through the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 provincial election and the racial reckoning that followed the death of George Floyd.

A natural facilitator, Deb's strength lies in building authentic, narrative-based engagement projects that strengthen relationships and rally diverse perspectives and personalities toward common goals.
She is experienced in the following sectors: Clean energy and utility, environment and regulatory, infrastructure development, government, post-secondary education, economic development, emergency response, media relations and issues management. Deb holds a Bachelor of Journalism (hons.) degree from the University of King’s College and has extensive training in leadership, techniques and methods for meaningful public participation according to IAP2 principles, conflict resolution, mediation, facilitation, anti-racism and workplace diversity and inclusion.
Deb is also an inveterate Atlantic Canadian, newspaper reader and wilderness explorer. She has canoed hundreds of kilometres of New Brunswick's wild rivers with her family in the last decade, particularly in the Restigouche watershed.
